Senior Full-Stack Engineer - Voyage Optimisation
At ZeroNorth, we are at the forefront of transforming the shipping industry through digital innovation. Our solutions go beyond optimising business operations, they are designed to lead the industry in sustainability by significantly reducing CO2 emissions.
Our core mission of making global trade greener drives everything we do. Your contributions will play a crucial role in reducing emissions, aligning commercial success with sustainability, and delivering benefits for both profitability and the environment.
ZeroNorth is powered by a diverse team of 550+ professionals with more than 38 nationalities, operating out of global hubs including Copenhagen (our headquarters), Athens, Chennai, Mumbai, Singapore, Sofia, and Tokyo.
We are leading the industry's green transition, enabling our partners to leverage data for actionable decarbonisation efforts.
Senior Full-Stack Engineer at ZeroNorth
We are hiring a Senior Full-Stack Engineer for our Voyage Optimisation team in Copenhagen. We are a cross-functional team of six engineers, a product manager and a designer. The team owns the customer-facing side of voyage planning: from building the initial plan to monitoring the voyage as it unfolds. We integrate with every part of the ZeroNorth platform – weather, routing, fuel, compliance, performance – and bring it together into the product our customers actually work in. If the rest of the business is the engine, we're the cherry on top.
We are looking for someone who operates and thinks as a product engineer: an engineer who works close to the customer and the business outcome, not just the technical execution. You are expected to understand why a fix or feature matters, not just build to spec. In practice that means taking part in scoping and prioritisation, validating that what you built actually solves the problem, and iterating on real usage rather than considering the job done once the code ships.
You will also help build the future of ZeroNorth. We are developing Propel, our new agentic platform that reimagines how customers work with us, and every business unit is part of building it. For Voyage Optimisation that means agentic voyage planning: agents that help vessels around the world navigate safely and at the lowest possible cost, working alongside the operators who plan and monitor those voyages today. You will help shape what that looks like.
Key responsibilities:
Build across the stack: Design, develop and maintain everything from the backend services and integrations behind voyage planning to the frontend our customers work in every day – and, increasingly, the agents on Propel that will plan voyages alongside them.
Deliver with product: Partner with our product manager and designer to shape, scope and prioritise work, bringing an engineer's view of what is feasible and what is worth doing.
Own outcomes, not tickets: You take a problem from the first report to confirmed result. Done means the problem is actually solved for the customer, not that the code was merged.
Raise the bar: Contribute to engineering standards through code review, testing and observability, and make AI-assisted development part of how the team ships faster without compromising quality.
Tech Stack:
Backend: Go (primary), Python
Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript
Database: PostgreSQL
Cloud & DevOps: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, GitHub Actions
What You'll Bring
First and foremost, you care – about the craft, the product and whatever you put your energy into. You want the code to be good, you want the feature to actually help someone, and you're not satisfied with "good enough" when you know it could be better. Everything below is how that shows up in practice:
Strong software engineering fundamentals: 5+ years building and running production systems across the stack. We care more about how you think – design, data modelling, testing, debugging, making trade-offs – than about which specific languages you've used. Experience with our stack is a plus, not a requirement.
A proven track record: You have taken features or products from idea through production and beyond – shaping the scope, shipping it, watching how customers actually used it, and iterating until it solved the problem. You can point to concrete examples and talk about what changed as a result.
Ownership and an outcome mindset: You pick up ambiguous problems and drive them to resolution without heavy hand-holding, and you don't consider a task done at "shipped" – you validate that it actually solved the problem.
What We Offer
Impactful work: A product making a real, measurable impact on the global climate challenge.
Real ownership: Direct responsibility for customer-facing systems, and the room to decide how problems get solved.
Growth and learning: A supportive environment with talented peers, modern tooling and hands-on exposure to generative AI in real engineering work.
Work-life balance: A hybrid model, with 3+ days a week at our Copenhagen HQ.
If you are a full-stack engineer who genuinely cares about what you build and who you build it for, and you want to apply that to one of the world's most important challenges, we would love to hear from you.
