Accounting Controller at ZeroNorth
We are a young and dynamic global group of companies on a rapid expansion path. The accounting and control team’s target is to leverage technology and automation to work with a high degree of efficiency. This role sits at the intersection of Accounts Payable and Month-End Close, requiring someone who is hands-on, solution-oriented, and able to operate independently without needing constant direction.
The job involves working in a matrix organisation with collaboration with multiple stakeholders across geographies. We are looking for someone who applies their mind proactively, takes ownership, and brings energy and initiative to every task.
Key responsibilities:
Accounts Payable :
• Manage the end-to-end AP process — from receiving and validating invoices, securingtimely approvals, to executing payments aligned with cash management objectives.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations and timely vendor statement reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.
• Contribute to cash flow forecasting on the expense side and flag risks proactively.
• Maintain strong vendor relationships and resolve disputes or discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
• Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders and counterparts on the business side to identify challenges and drive timely resolution without escalating avoidable issues.
Month-End Close & amp; Accounting :
• Own the month-end close process for entities under responsibility, ensuring books are closed accurately and on time.
• Control over costs and accruals, monthly charge-outs, and closing reconciliations.
• Perform reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with Group accounting standards; publish timely financial reports and variance analysis.
• Maintain control over key balance sheet accounts and drive reconciliation quality.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS and adequate knowledge of local GAAP, VAT, and withholding tax regulations.
• Support statutory and tax audits for entities under responsibility.
Cross-functional Responsibilities :
• Drive continuous process improvement with adoption AI to build efficiency and scale.
• Work with agreed KPIs and be accountable for delivery against them.
• Build and grow cross-functional relationships to work collaboratively within matrix structures.
• Coordinate with the FP&A team to ensure work practices are aligned with group policiesand deliver timely monthly closing.
Your profile:
You are a self-starter who takes ownership and applies your mind rather than waiting to be told what to do.You can navigate ambiguity, identify what needs to be done, and get it done — with quality. You bring strong accounting fundamentals and combine them with a proactive, can-do attitude.
• 5+ years of experience spanning both Accounts Payable and financial accounting / month-end close, ideally in a high-growth or process-oriented environment.
• Hands-on ERP experience (SAP, NetSuite, or similar) with comfort working across multiple entities.
• Strong command of IFRS; working knowledge of local GAAP, VAT, and withholding tax.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritise, and meet deadlines without close supervision.
• Excellent communication skills — able to deal with vendors, finance leadership, and cross-functional teams with confidence and clarity.
• Experience in small and agile teams covering a wide spectrum of tasks; comfortable wearing multiple hats.
• Educational qualification: Graduation in Accounting; CA / post-graduation preferred but not mandatory.
Why This Role?
This is a role for someone who wants breadth, not just depth. You will own both the transactional rigour of AP and the analytical discipline of month-end close, giving you full visibility into the financial cycle. If you thrive in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same and you are recognised for initiative, this is the role for you.
