Java Developer at ZeroNorth

Excellent opportunity for a talented and experienced Senior Developer to join our team. As a Senior Developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining web applications using Java. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 4 years of IT experience, with a strong background in Java development. This role requires excellent technical skills, a passion for building high-quality software, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain web applications using Java technologies.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and translate them into technical designs and implementation plans.

• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.

• Develop and consume RESTful APIs to integrate with backend services and databases.

• Perform unit testing and debugging of applications to ensure code quality and reliability.

• Collaborate with QA engineers to identify and resolve defects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software.

• Keep up to date with the latest trends and advancements in Java and related technologies, and apply them to improve the development process and application performance.

• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving production issues, providing timely support and solutions.

• Mentor junior developers, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster their professional growth.

• Contribute to code reviews, providing feedback and suggestions for improvements.

• Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, estimation, and daily stand-up meetings.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in IT, with a focus on web application development.

• Strong proficiency in Java, with hands-on experience in developing applications using Java technologies.

• Familiarity with backend technologies and databases, such as Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and big data databases (Cassandra).

• Knowledge of Akka, MQTT, and Cassandra is a plus.

• Knowledge of software development best practices, including version control (Git) and testing frameworks.

• Understanding of agile development methodologies and processes.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Self-motivated, with a passion for learning new technologies and staying updated with industry trends.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is beneficial but not required.

• Maritime/shipping knowledge is a plus.
